Dera Ismail Khan, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 29th Aug, 2026) A police constable was martyred and five policemen, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a woman constable, were injured when suspected terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij attacked a police party near Amin Farm on Dera-Hathala Road in Dera Ismail Khan district on Saturday, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred when a police party, headed by DSP Kulachi Kifayatullah and Station House Officer (SHO) Kalachi Sher Afzal Khan, was proceeding to conduct a raid in the area.
The terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the police party near Amin Farm. During the attack, the police mobile carrying DSP Kifayatullah reportedly went off the road and overturned, causing injuries to several police personnel.
The injured were identified as ASI Nauman Qasuria, Constable Qasim, DSP Kifayatullah’s gunman Ghulam Saeed, Hashim and woman Constable Amber Altaish, while DSP Kifayatullah was also injured in the attack.
The police personnel returned fire effectively, forcing the attackers to flee from the scene, police said.
Following the attack, a heavy contingent of police and other law-enforcement agencies reached the area and launched a search operation to trace the fleeing terrorists. The area was cordoned off and efforts were made to locate and apprehend those involved in the attack.
The injured police officials and personnel were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Dera Ismail Khan, where they were provided medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Police Constable Muhammad Saeed, who had sustained injuries in a terrorist attack within the jurisdiction of Hathala Police Station, succumbed to his injuries and embraced martyrdom.
The funeral prayer of the martyred constable was offered with full state honours at Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines, Dera Ismail Khan.
DPO Dera Ziauddin Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Hikmatullah Khan, Deputy Commandant DITF Colonel Tahir Khan, SP CTD Iftikhar Shah, SP Saddar Asif Mahmood and SP Paharpur Iqbal Khan Baloch, along with other civil, military and police officers, personnel and people from different walks of life, attended the funeral.
A smartly turned-out contingent of police presented a guard of honour to the martyred constable. Senior police and civil officers laid floral wreaths on the coffin and offered prayers for the departed soul and for patience for the bereaved family.
Speaking on the occasion, DPO Ziauddin Ahmed paid tribute to Constable Muhammad Saeed and said the sacrifices of brave police personnel strengthened the resolve and morale of the police force.
He said those who sacrificed their lives for the protection of the country and its people were the pride of the nation, adding that the sacrifices of martyrs would always be remembered.
Later, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ghulam Mubashir Maken and DPO Ziauddin Ahmed visited DHQ Hospital to inquire about the health of the injured police officers and personnel.
The senior officers met the injured officials, inquired about their condition and appreciated their courage and determination while performing their duties in the face of the terrorist attack.
RPO Ghulam Mubashir Maken also provided financial assistance to the injured police officers and personnel.
The RPO received a detailed briefing from the doctors about the condition of the injured personnel, their treatment and the medical facilities being provided to them. He directed the hospital administration to ensure the provision of the best possible medical treatment and facilities to the injured policemen.
Speaking on the occasion, RPO Ghulam Mubashir Maken said police officers and personnel were performing their duties on the frontline in the fight against terrorism without caring for their lives.
He paid tribute to their courage, determination and sacrifices, saying that the resolve of the police force against terrorism remained unwavering.
He said all available resources were being utilized to frustrate the nefarious designs of elements hostile to peace, adding that police would continue taking every possible measure to protect the lives and property of citizens.
The RPO and DPO prayed for the early and complete recovery of the injured officers and personnel and appreciated their high morale.
They assured the injured policemen that the police department stood firmly by them and would continue extending all possible support for their treatment, welfare and rehabilitation.
The Dera Ismail Khan police reiterated their resolve to continue performing their duties with courage, determination and professional commitment in the fight against terrorism and for the maintenance of peace and security in the district.
