KP Begins Comprehensive Data Drive For Persons With Disabilities, Orphans, Widows In Mohmand

PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 28th Aug, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched a district-wide data collection drive in Mohmand to identify persons with disabilities, orphaned children and widowed women and facilitate their inclusion in future welfare and social protection programmes.

The initiative, launched under the directions of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Adviser on Zakat, Ushr, Social Welfare, Special education and Women Empowerment Liaquat Ali Khan, seeks to establish an authentic and verified database of vulnerable segments of society.

The collected information will help the government assess the needs of deserving families and formulate targeted programmes for financial assistance, rehabilitation, social protection and other welfare services.

The authorities have asked eligible persons to submit their information through the prescribed verified forms to the Zakat Committee chairmen of their respective Village or Neighbourhood Councils, avoiding the need for residents of remote areas to travel to district offices.

Persons with disabilities have been advised to provide copies of their disability certificates, while those without certificates can approach the District Social Welfare Department for assistance. Orphans and widows are required to attach the relevant death certificates of their parents or husbands.

Local elders, social workers and Zakat committee representatives have been urged to actively participate in the campaign and help ensure that no deserving person is left out of the registration process.

Officials said the exercise would provide the government with reliable grassroots-level information for better allocation of resources and more effective delivery of welfare services to vulnerable communities in Mohmand.
