BAHAWALPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 12th Aug, 2026) Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia visited e-Khidmat Markaz Bahawalpur on Wednesday
in connection with the celebrations marking the Independence Day.
He was welcomed by Incharge e-Khidmat Markaz Bahawalpur Abdul Ahad Gardezi.
The commissioner participated in the Independence Day celebrations and cut a cake to
mark the independence. Officials and staff present on the occasion expressed their commitment
to upholding the spirit of patriotism, national unity and public service.
Talking to APP, Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia said the Independence Day was a reminder of the
sacrifices made by the nation’s forefathers for the creation of Pakistan. He said the occasion should renew the national resolve to strengthen the country through unity, hard work, discipline and dedication.
He emphasized that government institutions had a particular responsibility to provide efficient, transparent and accessible services to citizens.
The commissioner said Pakistan’s progress and prosperity depended on collective efforts, political stability, economic development and the effective performance of public institutions.
He urged government employees to discharge their duties with honesty and dedication and to treat citizens with respect while ensuring prompt resolution of their problems.
The commissioner also welcomed the recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing it as an important development in strengthening collective security
and defence cooperation among brotherly and friendly countries.
He stressed that Pakistan desired peaceful and stable relations with all countries and believed that collective security arrangements should ultimately serve the cause of peace and stability.
He said the Independence Day celebrations were also an opportunity to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty, strengthening national institutions and contributing positively to regional and global peace.
Later, Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia planted a sapling in the lawn of e-Khidmat Markaz as part of the Independence Day plantation activity. He said tree plantation was essential for environmental protection and urged citizens and government departments to actively participate in plantation and conservation initiatives. Incharge e-Khidmat Markaz Abdul Ahad Gardezi briefed the Commissioner about the arrangements and service delivery facilities available at the centre.
The commissioner appreciated the staff for their efforts and directed them to maintain high standards of efficiency, transparency and public facilitation.
