LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 2nd Sep, 2026) A traffic assistant has already been suspended following an accident in Shadman in which a motorcyclist died after allegedly colliding with the official while attempting to evade a stop signal, Lahore Traffic Police said on Wednesday.
According to a spokesperson, the incident occurred on August 26 when Traffic Assistant Sultanul Haq signalled motorcyclist Zain, who was riding without a helmet, to stop in Shadman.
Instead of stopping, the motorcyclist allegedly attempted to move ahead and collided with the traffic assistant. Both Zain and Sultanul Haq sustained injuries in the accident and were shifted to hospital for treatment.
The spokesperson said Zain remained under treatment at Services Hospital for five days before succumbing to his injuries.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi expressed deep sorrow and sympathy with the family of the deceased. “The requirements of justice will be fulfilled in the case, and further action will be taken against those found responsible in light of the inquiry report,” the CTO said.
The spokesperson said the traffic assistant involved in the incident was also receiving treatment at a hospital.
SSP Sadar Zone Hafiz Khizar Zaman was conducting an inquiry into the incident, while a detailed inquiry report would be submitted to the Inspector General of Police Punjab, the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added all legal requirements would be fulfilled and further action would be taken on the basis of the inquiry findings.
