MULTAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Multan Region on Thursday arrested a police sub-inspector in a trap raid for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Regional Director Anti-Corruption Establishment Multan Basharat Nabi, in line with the special directions of Director General ACE Punjab Sohail Zafar Chattha regarding indiscriminate action against corrupt elements.
Circle Officer ACE Lodhran Ali Hassan, along with his team and under the supervision of a judicial magistrate, carried out the trap raid and arrested Amir Haider, a sub-inspector posted at Qureshi Wala police station in Lodhran, while allegedly receiving Rs 20,000 as illegal gratification for arranging the complainant’s medical examination.
The marked Currency notes were recovered from the possession of the accused and taken into custody in accordance with legal requirements.
According to ACE officials, the complainant, Muhammad Hayat s/o Allah Wasaya, had also allegedly paid Rs15,000 earlier to Yaseen, a police station munshi, for the registration of a case. The sub-inspector had allegedly demanded and received Rs 20,000 in connection with arranging his medical examination at Lodhran Hospital.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant provisions of law, while further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparent governance, addressing public complaints effectively and eliminating corruption through indiscriminate action against corrupt elements.
The department also appealed to citizens to report incidents of corruption to the Anti-Corruption Establishment so that timely legal action could be taken against those involved.
