ABBOTTABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 31st Aug, 2026) Additional Deputy Commissioner General Abbottabad, Gohar Ali has warned of strict action against officials and personnel found negligent during the upcoming anti-polio campaign, stressing that eradication of the crippling disease is a collective responsibility.
He was speaking while chairing a meeting of the District Polio Eradication Committee (DPEC), attended by District Health Officer Dr Shehzad Iqbal, Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Afrasiab Hindal and other health officials.
The meeting was informed that the Sub-National Polio Immunization Campaign will be held across Abbottabad from September 21 to 24, targeting 217,917 children aged five years and below.
A total of 1,673 teams have been constituted for the campaign, including 1,570 mobile, 65 fixed, 33 transit and five roaming teams. The campaign will cover 54 union councils, with 360 area in-charges assigned to monitor the teams.
Gohar Ali directed health authorities to ensure that no child is missed during the campaign and called for stronger monitoring and coordination among all departments. He also urged parents to cooperate with polio teams and ensure their children receive polio drops during every campaign.
