FAISALABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 27th Aug, 2026) In a major welfare boost for the working class, the government distributed marriage and death grant cheques worth Rs30 million among deserving workers and their families during a ceremony at Municipal Corporation Hall here, reflecting its renewed focus on providing financial protection to workers facing major family and personal hardships.
The ceremony was organized by the Labor and Human Resources Department in accordance with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Faisalabad Muhammad Nauman Siddiq attended it as chief guest.
Former Member Provincial Assembly Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad, Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh, officers of the Labor and Human Resources Department, workers and their family members and other stakeholders were also present in the ceremony.
During the event, financial assistance cheques amounting to Rs30 million were distributed among deserving workers and their families under the marriage and death grant schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddiq said that workers were playing a fundamental role in strengthening the national economy and contributing to social development while their welfare remained among the key priorities of the Punjab government.
He said that extending financial assistance to workers during periods of hardship was an important welfare measure particularly for families confronted with the substantial expenses associated with marriage or the loss of a breadwinner.
The deputy commissioner said that facilities being provided by the provincial government for workers and their children in areas including education, healthcare, marriage and other basic needs were helping improve their quality of life and providing greater financial stability to deserving families.
He said that increase in the marriage grant from Rs400,000 to Rs600,000 and the death grant from Rs800,000 to Rs1 million was a practical manifestation of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s worker-friendly policies.
Muhammad Nauman Siddiq said that the Punjab government was committed to ensuring that deserving workers received their legitimate rights and financial assistance in a timely, transparent and hassle-free manner.
He directed the concerned officers to avoid unnecessary delays in processing cases related to workers’ welfare grants and ensure that eligible beneficiaries were provided the prescribed facilities strictly according to the relevant procedure.
The deputy commissioner further said that the district administration would continue extending full cooperation to the concerned departments for effective implementation of government initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of workers.
He said that the fundamental objective of the Punjab government’s welfare initiatives was to provide financial security to vulnerable and deserving segments of society and enable them to lead dignified lives.
The beneficiaries and their family members expressed gratitude to the Punjab government for providing financial assistance at critical stages of their lives, describing the support as a significant relief for families facing financial pressures.
