CHINIOT, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th Aug, 2026) A ceremony was held on Sunday at the newly established library hall of Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, Chiniot, under the auspices of the Pakistan Sharia Council, with Sahibzada Muhammad Qamar-ul-Haq Sialvi in the chair.
Addressing the gathering, Maulana Zahid-ur-Rashidi paid rich tribute to the services of the founders of the institution, Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Zakir (RA) and Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Nafi (RA). He said Maulana Muhammad Zakir (RA) had played a historic role in the Islamic drafting of the 1973 Constitution, adding that Sahibzada Muhammad Qamar-ul-Haq Sialvi was commendably carrying forward the scholarly and social traditions of his distinguished predecessors.
Appreciating the establishment of the public library, Maulana Zahid-ur-Rashidi said the younger generation’s connection with books and original sources of knowledge had weakened considerably in the era of mobile phones and digital media.
He stressed the need to revive the culture of reading and encourage young people to develop a lasting relationship with books.
Referring to the Islamic tradition of making knowledge accessible to the public, he said the Holy Quran was made available for public reading at Istwanat-ul-Mushaf, a pillar of the Prophet’s Mosque, during the Siddiqui era. He said establishing a public library at the institution was a continuation of the scholarly traditions of the elders and an important intellectual need of the present age.
