ABBOTTABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has stepped up inspections across Hazara Division to ensure the supply of safe, quality and halal food, with Regional Director Hazara Mubashir Manzoor warning that food adulteration will not be tolerated and violators will face action under the law.
While talking to media Manzoor said the authority was monitoring the food supply chain from farms to consumers and conducting regular checks of food businesses ranging from roadside vendors to industrial units.
He said modern testing kits were being used to check milk for adulteration and harmful substances. No case of chemically adulterated milk had been reported in Hazara, although instances of water and milk-powder adulteration had been detected. He warned that no form of milk adulteration would be tolerated and violators would face legal action.
The regional director said registration of food businesses was continuing, while monitoring was being expanded to remote areas. Citizens can also submit suspected milk samples to the authority for testing, while efforts are being made to respond to complaints within 24 hours.
Regarding poultry meat, Manzoor said poultry sellers had been directed to slaughter chickens in front of customers and charge according to the weight of the live bird. Strict action would be taken against those violating the directives.
He said regular inspections were also being conducted at school canteens, hotels, bakeries and other food outlets, with action taken against expired products, substandard food colours and incorrect labelling.
The authority is also working on introducing modern food carts, a restaurant rating system and QR codes for consumer feedback.
Open-kitchen systems are also being promoted at restaurants to improve transparency and food safety.
Manzoor urged citizens to report food-related complaints to the Food Safety and Halal Food Authority’s complaint cell. During the radio programme, he also responded to live calls and addressed questions and complaints from citizens.
