DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 27th Aug, 2026) The district administration has recommended strict departmental action against officials and staff of the District Headquarters Hospital and Trauma Centre after a surprise late-night inspection revealed serious lapses in medical, administrative, cleanliness and fire-safety arrangements.
Assistant Commissioner Dr Muhammad Hamid Siddiq conducted the inspection and found that no doctor was present on duty in the paediatric ward. The ward was also found in poor hygienic condition, while the concerned sanitation staff was absent from duty.
The administration directed the health authorities to take action against the negligent staff and arrange alternative personnel immediately.
The inspection also exposed serious shortcomings in fire-safety arrangements across the hospital. The fire-alert system was found non-functional, while the staff’s preparedness and training for dealing with fire emergencies were deemed inadequate.
No Deputy Medical Superintendent or other administrative officer was present at the DHQ Hospital during the inspection.
Expressing displeasure over the absence, the assistant commissioner sent a letter to the health department recommending departmental action against the responsible official.
At the Trauma Centre, complaints regarding the non-availability of medicines were verified on the spot and found to be valid. The administration also recommended strict departmental and legal action against the officer responsible for the drug store.
Dr Siddiq expressed serious concern over the overall medical, administrative, cleanliness and fire-safety conditions at the facilities and recommended action against those responsible for negligence.
He said that the negligence by government hospital staff and poor arrangements that caused inconvenience to patients and their attendants would not be tolerated, adding that officials found guilty of dereliction of duty would face legal action.
