LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) The first batch of body cameras has been received under the plan to equip Lahore Police with modern technology.
According to the details, the initial shipment consisting of 1,000 modern body cameras will be provided to Lahore Police personnel.
According to officials, a total of 30,000 body cameras were approved for the Punjab Police. In addition to audio and video recording, the modern cameras also have modern features such as group call, push-to-talk and facial recognition.
Body cameras will be provided to all operational forces including CTD, operational and investigation police in a phased manner. Traffic police, elite force, highway patrol and various police units will also be equipped with body cameras, while these cameras will also be provided to officers posted at police stations and police posts.
Officials say that through body cameras, audio and video recording of police operations along with live monitoring will also be possible. Videos recorded during duty will be stored in the body camera and after the duty is over, all recordings will be automatically transferred to the system by placing the camera at the dock station.
Immediate communication between field officers and the control room will also be possible through the push-to-talk feature. According to officials, IG Punjab had sought funds of Rs 269.5 crore for the purchase of body cameras.
