A high-level delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group, visited the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) here on Monday to explore stronger cooperation in green building education, energy efficiency, sustainable development and industry-relevant skills
PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 31st Aug, 2026) A high-level delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group, visited the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) here on Monday to explore stronger cooperation in green building education, energy efficiency, sustainable development and industry-relevant skills.
The delegation, led by IFC Pakistan Director Simon Andrews and Country Officer Sahar Etezaz, visited the university’s Buildings Energy Research Centre (BERC) and Earthquake Engineering Center.
The visit also focused on reviewing and following up on the License and Cooperation Agreement signed between IFC and UET Peshawar.
UET Peshawar Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Sadiq Khattak welcomed the delegation and stressed the importance of partnerships between universities and international development institutions in addressing challenges related to climate change, energy efficiency and sustainable growth.
He said UET Peshawar was committed to translating academic knowledge and research into practical, result-oriented solutions for sustainable development and a cleaner energy future.
Simon Andrews appreciated the efforts of UET Peshawar and BERC in promoting energy efficiency, resource management and professional skills development.
He underscored the need for continued engagement and constructive dialogue among academia, industry and development partners to support sustainable development.
BERC Director Dr Naveed Ahmad briefed the delegation on the centre’s work in energy-efficient and climate-responsive construction, research, training and capacity building.
He said the centre was also developing professional skills in line with the emerging requirements of the green economy.
The visit provided an opportunity to identify new areas of collaboration and strengthen links between UET Peshawar, IFC and relevant industry stakeholders for advancing sustainable construction and green skills in Pakistan.
