MULTAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th Aug, 2026) Deputy Commissioner, Dr Faisal Saleem, said that students of religious seminaries
deserve the same opportunities as other young players to participate in sports and
showcase their abilities in a healthy environment.
A cricket tournament was organized by the Sports department Multan under the
Rabi-ul-Awwal Madaris Sports Gala on the directives of the district administration.
The tournament was won by Azadar Tigers, who defeated Hussaini stars in the final.
Four teams representing religious seminaries — Qasim-ul-Uloom, Hussaini Stars,
Azadar Tigers and Fatima Al-Tamtyarah — participated in the tournament.
District Sports Officer, Adnan Naeem, was the chief guest at the opening ceremony.
He said the district administration was taking healthy initiatives for students of religious
seminaries so that, alongside religious education, they could also be encouraged
to participate in sports.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Faisal Saleem was the chief guest at the final and prize-distribution
ceremony.
He was accompanied by Punjab Provincial Ittehad Bain-ul-Muslimeen Committee
member and Central President of the Azadari Imam Hussain Council Pakistan, Malik Khawar
Shafqat Bhutta.
Addressing the prize-distribution ceremony, Dr Faisal Saleem, said students of religious
seminaries, like other athletes, had the right to demonstrate their talent in a healthy and
positive environment.
He said such opportunities could help young students develop their abilities and potentially
represent Pakistan at national and international levels, contributing to a positive image of
the country.
The deputy commissioner announced that the district administration would organize more
sporting activities for seminary students in the future to provide them with opportunities to
participate in various sports and contribute positively to society.
At the conclusion, the distinguished guests distributed prizes among the players and match
officials.
