HYDERABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 27th Aug, 2026) Assistant Commissioner Hyderabad City Syed Noor Hussain and a Rescue 1122 team conducted a fire safety inspection of civil hospital Hyderabad and reviewed arrangements to deal with any fire emergency and ensure safe evacuation of patients.
According to a handout issued on Thursday, two emergency exits of the emergency department were found blocked and obstructed during the inspection. An inadequate number of fire extinguishers were also found in the main emergency hall, Emergency ICU and paediatrics nursery. One of the available extinguishers was expired, while another was empty and non-functional.
The inspection team also identified obstructions along the fire emergency exit route, absence of emergency exit signboards at required locations and lack of sand in the fire bucket in the Emergency Department.
It was further observed that several fire extinguishers had been removed for refilling and recharging, but no adequate alternative arrangements had been made.
The Assistant Commissioner directed the hospital administration to immediately keep all emergency exits clear, ensure the availability of functional fire extinguishers and other safety equipment at required locations, and improve all fire emergency and safety arrangements.
The hospital administration assured that measures were being taken to address the identified issues and all necessary fire safety arrangements would be completed soon.
