Expansion Of People’s Bus Service To Different Cities Part Of Policy: Sharjeel

KARACHI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Sep, 2026) A decision was taken to further expand public transport facilities at an important meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department chaired by Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon.

The meeting discussed the expansion of the People’s Bus Service, progress on double-decker buses, the EV taxi service, Pink Scooties, and BRT projects.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, CEO Trans Karachi Zubair Channa, MD Sindh Mass Transit Authority Aamir Behzad Memon, and other concerned officers.

During the meeting, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon was briefed on the ongoing operations of the People’s Bus Service across the province and the expansion of the service to various cities.

The meeting was informed that the People’s Bus Service will soon be launched on the Qambar-Shahdadkot to Larkana route. The buses have reached Larkana, while matters related to the arrival and operation of double-decker buses are being finalized.

The meeting also discussed in detail the operational model of the EV taxi service and the steps being taken to launch the service.

The Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon directed that all arrangements for the launch of bus services on new routes should be completed on time. He said that the purpose of expanding the scope of the People’s Bus Service is to provide better transport facilities to the people. Pink Scooties will also be distributed in Mirpurkhas soon.

He said that the Pink Scooties program is a revolutionary step towards women’s empowerment and facilitating their access to essential activities. He further directed that the pace of work on BRT projects should be accelerated and that all relevant institutions should work in close coordination to avoid unnecessary delays.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Sindh government is taking practical steps to develop a modern, safe, and environmentally friendly public transport system across the province.

He added that the expansion of the People’s Bus Service to different cities, the promotion of electric transport, and major BRT projects are part of the government’s comprehensive transport policy.
