KOHAT, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 2nd Sep, 2026) District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, SSP Rai Mazhar Iqbal on Wednesday started holding a daily open court at his office to provide citizens with a direct platform to voice their grievances and ensure their prompt redressal in accordance with law and merit.
People from different parts of the district attend the open court to submit individual and collective complaints, particularly those relating to police matters. The DPO also listened to the complainants and issues on-the-spot directions to the relevant officers for timely and lawful action.
On this occasion, SSP Rai Mazhar Iqbal said citizens did not need any recommendation or intermediary to approach the police, as the department’s doors were open to everyone. He made it clear that genuine complaints would be dealt with strictly on merit and in accordance with the law, while negligence or unnecessary delay would not be tolerated.
The DPO also directed police officers and officials to treat citizens respectfully, give due attention to their complaints and ensure prompt legal proceedings.
He said restoring public confidence, transparency and timely justice remained among the top priorities of Kohat Police.
He further highlighted that registration of crime cases was completely free of cost and urged victims of robbery, theft and other offences to approach the police without hesitation. He assured citizens of protection and appropriate legal action, while warning of strict action against drug peddlers, land grabbers and other criminal elements.
Meanwhile, taking action over a complaint of misconduct, the DPO suspended the Moharrar of Jungle Khel Police Station for allegedly misbehaving with citizens and showing negligence in dealing with their grievances. He warned that any discourtesy, indifference or negligence towards the public would not be tolerated.
SSP Rai Mazhar Iqbal said police and citizens must work together to curb crime and make Kohat a peaceful and secure district.
