FAISALABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th Aug, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh has ordered a coordinated crackdown on encroachments and unauthorised construction, directing the Municipal Corporation, Excise & Taxation Department, Assistant Commissioner City and PERA Force to ensure strict enforcement of building laws.
Chairing a meeting, he directed the Municipal Corporation and Excise & Taxation Department to formulate a joint policy for building-map approvals and ensure that no construction is undertaken without prior approval.
The commissioner also called for measures to strengthen the Municipal Corporation’s finances by increasing revenue and cutting unnecessary expenditures by 30 percent. He directed officials to improve resource utilisation and ensure timely completion of development schemes.
He ordered joint anti-encroachment operations and stressed that cleared sites must remain free of illegal structures and obstructions. He also called for a workable strategy for establishing parking plazas in congested areas and regulating road cuts to protect public convenience, traffic flow and civic infrastructure.
Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh further directed that management committees be formed before Municipal Corporation-sponsored events to ensure proper planning and monitoring.
He stressed effective inter-departmental coordination, transparent use of public funds and timely completion of projects, saying improved municipal governance, disciplined urban development, enhanced revenue and uninterrupted public services should remain the administration’s key priorities.
