ATC Issues Arrest Warrants For Lawyer In LHC Copy Branch Vandalism Case

LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday issued arrest warrants for Advocate Majid Jahangir after he failed to appear before the court in a case concerning vandalism at the Lahore High Court’s copy branch.

ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain conducted the proceedings and directed the concerned station house officer (SHO) to arrest the accused and produce him before the court. The court adjourned further proceedings until September 30.

Majid Jahangir had remained absent from several previous hearings. On the last two hearings his guarantor had appeared before the court and stated that the accused was his brother and that his mental condition had deteriorated.

He had reportedly left home and was missing. However, neither the accused nor his brother appeared before the court on Thursday.

The trial against the lawyer is already underway, while his application for acquittal has previously been dismissed.

The case was registered in 2021 at Old Anarkali police station on the complaint of Assistant Registrar of the LHC Copy Branch, Shabbir Ahmed.

According to the prosecution, Majid Jahangir allegedly vandalised the LHC Copy Branch over a delay in obtaining a copy of a case. The charges include damaging government property, issuing death threats, attempting to take possession of property and obstructing government officials in the discharge of their duties.
