LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Sep, 2026) Lahore Commissioner Noman Yousaf on Friday inspected rainwater drainage operations at various points across the city and directed the WASA to give equal attention to main roads, link roads and low-lying areas.
The commissioner visited Lakshmi Chowk, Jain Mandir, Ferozepur Road, Qurtaba Chowk, Johar Town, Akbar Chowk and Allah Hoo Chowk and reviewed ongoing drainage operations. Lahore WASA Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed accompanied him.
The commissioner said 102 millimetres of rain had been recorded in Johar Town, while areas around Mall Road and Johar Town had received comparatively heavy rainfall.
He directed WASA officials to clear affected areas at the earliest and maintain focus on low-lying areas and secondary roads along with major thoroughfares.
Nouman Yousaf said WASA camps and disposal stations were operating at full capacity across the city. Teams had been deployed at all identified points to remove accumulated rainwater, while operations were continuing at remaining locations.
He said areas where rainfall had stopped were being cleared on a priority basis and all identified hotspots had been cleared.
The commissioner said continuous drainage operations during rainfall also helped reduce water accumulation, adding that a cleanliness operation would be launched in affected areas after completion of drainage work.
He said teams would remain deployed in the field to respond promptly in case of further rainfall.
