PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Sep, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser on Social Welfare, Zakat and Women Empowerment Liaqat Ali Khan has said the provincial government is transforming its welfare strategy by focusing on skills development and self-reliance instead of limiting support to short-term financial assistance.
Addressing an open court (Khuli Katchery) in Kohat on Friday, the adviser said the government was committed to ensuring that welfare initiatives reached all deserving and vulnerable people without discrimination.
He said special persons would be provided vocational training and other opportunities to enable them to earn a respectable livelihood and become self-reliant. District-level centres for persons with disabilities would also be established to provide skills training, rehabilitation and access to welfare services, he added.
Liaqat Ali Khan directed the relevant departments to promptly resolve genuine public complaints and ensure transparent delivery of welfare benefits to deserving people.
Commissioner Kohat Division, Syed Moatasim Billah Shah, Additional Secretary Social Welfare and Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz Wazir were also present at the open court, where citizens raised issues concerning welfare assistance and other public services.
The adviser also distributed sewing machines and wheelchairs among deserving beneficiaries, saying such assistance would help vulnerable people improve their livelihoods and move towards greater economic independence.
