ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, Ayesha Raza Farooq on Thursday said frontline polio workers were the first link in building public trust, and their dedication, courage and tireless efforts were crucial to making Pakistan polio-free.
During her direct interaction with frontline polio teams, she appreciated their services despite the challenges and risks they faced in the field.
She said the needs and concerns of frontline workers were being incorporated into decision-making within the polio programme.
She noted that Sindh had made significant progress in the fight against polio, with only one case reported so far this year, compared with nine cases reported in the province last year.
Ayesha Raza Farooq also highlighted the important role of the Polio Programme’s Digital Champions in countering misinformation and strengthening public confidence in vaccination.
The Digital Champions have published more than 1,400 posts, generating 6.15 million views.
She said the courage, commitment and hard work of frontline workers could help Pakistan achieve the goal of stopping polio virus transmission.
She reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to stopping polio virus transmission by June 2027.
