PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure, Privileges and Implementation of Government Assurances on Thursday directed government departments to ensure prompt resolution of public grievances and maintain effective coordination with elected representatives.
The committee meeting, chaired by Deputy Speaker Suraya Bibi at the Assembly Secretariat, reviewed various privilege motions raised by MPAs and the implementation of assurances given by government departments.
A detailed discussion was held on a privilege motion regarding prolonged power outages in Karak and alleged inappropriate behaviour of PESCO officials.
The committee expressed concern over the hardships faced by residents and directed PESCO authorities to address the issue immediately.
The PESCO Chief Engineer assured the committee that complaints of lawmakers would be resolved and briefed members on measures to introduce modern metering systems to curb electricity theft.
The committee stressed that action against power theft should be taken without discrimination, but innocent consumers should not be made to bear the cost of electricity theft.
Privilege motions concerning the Commissioner Bannu and the Police Department were also discussed. In the absence of relevant officials, the matters were deferred until the next meeting.
The committee also called for courteous and responsible behaviour by police officials towards the public and elected representatives.
Deputy Speaker Suraya Bibi directed departments to ensure effective follow-up on issues raised on the Assembly floor and government assurances, saying mutual respect and close coordination between public representatives and government institutions were essential for timely resolution of public problems.
