LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th Aug, 2026) Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan
said that party workers were a valuable asset and the government was making concerted
efforts to provide youth across the country with opportunities in education, technical
training, entrepreneurship, startups and employment under the vision of Prime Minister
Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Addressing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers in PP-172 constituency,
here on Sunday, he said he was fully aware of the issues faced by the people of the
constituency and was working round the clock for their resolution and completion of
development projects.
He said the party’s organizational structure, including its Youth, Labour, Lawyers, Traders
and Women wings, had been empowered at the union council level, while coordinators
appointed for various departments were maintaining continuous liaison to identify and
resolve public issues.
PMYP Chairman Rana Mashhood said climate change had become a serious threat
to the entire region, with extreme heat, melting glaciers, cloudbursts and unusual rainfall
creating new challenges. He said recent floods along the China-Nepal border were also
an example of the impacts of climate change.
Discussing electricity-related issues, he said the increased demand during extreme heat
was placing additional pressure on the power system. A complete record of transformers
replaced in Lahore, particularly in PP-172, was being compiled to keep the public informed
about the work being undertaken, he added.
He said work was continuing on roads, streets, sewerage, electricity and gas-related issues
in the constituency. In UC-93, 146 roads had been provided with sewerage systems and
inaugurated after completion.
The chairman said providing dignified employment to youth was a major challenge, which
was why special attention was being given to skills development and employment generation.
A technical education institution in Sabzazar was expected to become operational by December
or January after delays due to departmental matters. He said arrangements were being made
to train at least 2,000 youth from his constituency within six months and facilitate employment
opportunities, including overseas employment.
With private-sector collaboration, the institution
would target training 10,000 students within six months.
Chairman Rana Mashhood announced the provision of seven dialysis machines at Rana Abdul
Rahim Hospital in Sodiwal and four additional machines at Haji Ibrahim Hospital. Medicines not
currently provided free of cost by the government would also be made available at the hospitals,
while arrangements would be made to provide various diagnostic tests free of charge within the
next two months.
He said one of Lahore’s best filtration plants would be inaugurated in Gulshan Ravi next week,
adding that personal resources were also being utilized alongside government development funds
for public welfare.
The chairman said various activities, including floats on August 14 and Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH),
book fairs in schools and distribution of ration among deserving families during Ramazan, were
aimed at promoting patriotism and the spirit of love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH), particularly
among youth.
Referring to international educational cooperation, he said memorandums of understanding
had been signed with 50 universities during his visit to China with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif,
while agreements had also been concluded with 70 technical education and medical universities.
During a visit to the United States, agreements were signed with 25 US universities and
13 medical universities, besides cooperation agreements in technical education. He said
ambassadors from 21 countries had participated in a health conference and expo held
a day earlier, describing it as a reflection of Pakistan’s expanding international linkages
and cooperation.
Rana Mashhood reiterated his commitment to resolving public issues in PP-172, improving
healthcare and education facilities, developing infrastructure and equipping youth with skills
and employment opportunities. He urged party workers to promptly identify public issues
so that timely measures could be taken for their resolution.
He said Pakistan’s development would lead to the development of provinces, which in turn
would contribute to the progress of Constituencies, adding that he was proud to play his
role in Pakistan’s development and prosperity.
