ATTOCK, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 28th Aug, 2026) Additional Deputy Commissioner Municipal Services Attock Anil Saeed on Friday chaired a meeting of the District Prison Health Council to review healthcare facilities and welfare measures for inmates at District Jail Attock. CEO Health Dr. Asad Ismail, Medical Superintendent Government Asfandyar Bukhari District Hospital Dr. Javed Elahi, jail officials and other relevant officers attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed in detail the medical facilities available to inmates, availability of essential medicines, routine health examinations, treatment arrangements and other healthcare services at the jail. Jail authorities and Health Department officials briefed the participants about the existing healthcare arrangements and highlighted issues requiring attention.
The participants stressed the need to provide timely and adequate medical care to all inmates without discrimination. Measures to improve routine medical examinations, early diagnosis and treatment of diseases, uninterrupted availability of medicines and prompt response to medical emergencies were also discussed.
The meeting further reviewed proposals for improving cleanliness, hygiene, availability of clean drinking water and other basic facilities at the jail.
Anil Saeed said the health and welfare of inmates was among the government’s priorities and assured that quality medical facilities in line with basic human needs would be provided to all prisoners. He directed the concerned officers to strengthen coordination between the Health Department and jail administration, ensure timely examination and treatment of sick inmates, maintain uninterrupted medicine supplies and make arrangements for immediate medical assistance and, where necessary, prompt shifting of patients to the district hospital. He also ordered regular monitoring and effective implementation of decisions taken by the District Prison Health Council.
