MIRPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 29th Aug, 2026) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maria Iqbal Tarana on Saturday said that the PML-N government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), under the leadership of Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Ali Gilani, would take practical measures to address the sense of deprivation, public grievances and concerns of the people and accelerate development across the state.
Speaking to journalists during her visit to the Kashmir Press Club Mirpur, she said the people of AJK had long faced challenges related to basic amenities, infrastructure, employment, education, healthcare and other essential sectors. She said addressing these issues would remain a key priority of the government, which would pursue a comprehensive development agenda aimed at improving living standards and ensuring balanced development in all districts.
Referring to development initiatives in Punjab under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Tarana said the PML-N’s development-oriented vision would also be reflected in AJK. She emphasized the need to create greater opportunities for the youth through improved education, skills development, employment and access to modern technology, describing young people as the state’s most valuable asset.
She also called for special attention to Mirpur and other districts in road infrastructure, healthcare, education and basic services, with development projects executed transparently according to public needs.
Tarana expressed confidence that Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Ali Gilani would take effective steps to meet public expectations and improve service delivery in the state. She further stressed the importance of cooperation among the government, media, civil society and other stakeholders in identifying and resolving public issues. Appreciating the role of journalists in highlighting people’s concerns, she said constructive engagement between the government and media could contribute to better governance and effective resolution of public grievances. She also reiterated the PML-N leadership’s commitment to ushering in a new era of development and public welfare in AJK.
