WASA To Extend Full Support For JICA Survey On New Clean Drinking Water Project: MD

FAISALABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd Aug, 2026) Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director (MD) Engineer Saqib Raza has said that full institutional support would be provided for the initial survey of a new Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) water supply project.

He directed all relevant officers and staff to share complete information with the survey team and remove every possible hurdle during the field exercise.

Chairing a meeting with the JICA survey team, he said that preparations were underway for a new project aimed at improving water supply facilities for the citizens and for this purpose, initial survey had already commenced.

He directed the concerned officers and staff of WASA to extend complete cooperation to JICA survey team and provide all required information and technical assistance so that the survey could be completed efficiently and without unnecessary delays.

He made it clear that any administrative, technical or operational obstacles encountered by the survey team during the process should be promptly addressed and removed.

He said that effective coordination between WASA and JICA team was essential for obtaining accurate data and ensuring proper planning of the proposed project.

He termed the proposed water treatment plant project at Jhang Branch Canal a highly significant initiative for Faisalabad particularly in view of the need to provide safe and clean drinking water.

He said that commencement of the preliminary survey was a welcome development and it would help assess the technical and operational requirements of the project before its implementation.

He said that the proposed treatment facility had potential to play an important role in strengthening drinking water supply system of the city and improving access to safe water for residents.

He emphasized that reliable access to clean drinking water was directly linked with public health and quality of life, making water supply and treatment projects a priority for future infrastructure needs of the city.

WASA Chief said that the authority was focusing on various projects for improving provision of clean drinking water in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.

Coordinated planning, technical assessment and effective implementation would be essential for translating this vision into sustainable improvements in public service delivery, he added.

He also stressed that the survey phase should be conducted comprehensively so that all relevant technical, geographical and operational aspects could be properly assessed.

Complete and accurate information gathered at the initial stage would help ensure that the project was planned according to the actual requirements of the city, he added.
