Attock-Fateh Jang Road Restoration Launched After Mini-bridge Collapse

ATTOCK, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) The district administration and Communication and Works Department have launched an emergency operation to restore traffic on the Attock–Fateh Jang Road after a mini-bridge collapsed, with heavy machinery immediately dispatched to the site.

Punjab Minister for Communication and Works Malik Sohail Ahmed Bharth said the C&W Department had taken prompt action and machinery had reached the affected location, where repair work was started without delay.

He said the road was expected to be reopened to traffic within an hour, adding that he and C&W Secretary Raja Jahangir Anwar were maintaining continuous contact with the field formation to monitor the restoration operation.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Attock Dr Mudassir Ahmed Shah visited Fateh Jang city to review the situation and assess the response of the Roads Department and local administration.

During his visit, Assistant Commissioner Fateh Jang Ahsan Ali briefed the deputy commissioner about the restoration project, deployment of machinery and progress of repair work.

Dr Mudassir directed the concerned officials to ensure close coordination and complete the restoration work on a priority basis to minimise disruption for commuters and transporters.

The deputy commissioner also sought regular updates on the progress of the operation and stressed that every available resource should be utilised to restore the important road link at the earliest.

The minister said the damaged crossing would be repaired as quickly as possible and traffic would be restored once the route was made safe for vehicular movement.

The administration said the operation was being closely monitored by the district authorities and C&W officials to ensure timely completion of the emergency repair work.
