HYDERABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 13th Aug, 2026) A colourful and enthusiastic program was held at Syed Panah Ali Shah Model School, Jamshoro as part of the two week long Independence Day celebrations at the University of Sindh, reaffirming the commitment to patriotism, cultural expression and quality education.
The university’s spokesman Dr Nadir Ali Mughari told Thursday that the celebrations were presided over by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Mari (T.I), and featured national songs, tableaus, speeches and other activities by students, reflecting the spirit of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The Vice Chancellor inaugurated the celebrations by planting a sapling in the school garden. Students presented national songs, while young performers carrying national flags marched and performed with great enthusiasm. Tableaus were also presented, conveying powerful messages of love for Pakistan, national unity and the responsibilities that come with freedom.
In their speeches, the students highlighted the historic struggle for independence and paid tribute to the sacrifices rendered by the elders for the creation of Pakistan.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Dr Fateh Muhammad Mari extended heartfelt felicitations to the students, teachers and entire university community on Independence Day.
He said August 14 was a day for the nation to renew its resolve for the development, unity and prosperity of Pakistan.
He said Independence Day celebrations at the university were not merely ceremonial activities, but provided an opportunity to promote patriotism, national responsibility and the spirit of service among the youth.
Dr Mari said he personally believed that children should receive Primary education in their mother tongue rather than being pushed towards English-medium education at an early stage. Referring to a UNICEF report, he said children receiving primary education in their own language could develop stronger learning abilities and perform better academically.
Earlier, Principal Syed Panah Ali Shah Model School Marvi Attar briefed the Vice Chancellor about the school’s academic activities, infrastructure and student enrolment.
Pro Vice Chancellor Main Campus Professor Dr Abdul Sattar Shah, Registrar Sajid Qayyum Memon, Project Director Ghulam Shabbir Abbasi, Director Campus Security Rafique Ali Brohi, Press Manager Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah, Deputy Registrar (Admin) Nadeem Butt, Purchase Store Officer Faisal Zaman Mughal, Chairman Sindh University Colony Dr Mazhar Abbasi, Muhammad Ali Ghanghro, Zulfiqar Ali Rustmani, teachers, students and other university officers also attended the ceremony.
