SUKKUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Aug, 2026) The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) on Tuesday successfully performed a complex facial bone fracture surgery, restoring hope for a road accident victim.
According to details, a patient identified as Hamal was brought to the department after sustaining severe injuries in a Road Traffic Accident (RTA). He was diagnosed with a right parasymphysis mandibular (lower jaw) fracture.
The medical team first completed the patient’s stabilisation and clinical optimisation in the pre operative phase. Subsequently, Open Reduction Internal Fixation (ORIF) along with Maxillomandibular Fixation (MMF) was performed under General Anesthesia (GA).
GIMS’s Spokesperson, Jameel Hyder said the patient was smoothly extubated after the procedure, remained fully stable and was recovering well.
Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr Mohsin Mumtaz, who performed the surgery, said that state of the art facial bone fracture surgery services were fully operational at GIMS.
He said the department had emerged as a beacon of hope for the community by providing complex, world-class surgical care completely free of cost to the needy patients.
The successful surgery was made possible under the visionary leadership of GIMS Director Dr Raheem Bux Bhatti, whose efforts have made specialised, life-changing services accessible to people of the region.
